Instructions for Shabby Trees

Our goal is to end up with a tree that looks like the ones above. You can purchase the Shabby Tree Kit, and be 100% ready to start your project. The Shabby Tree Kit comes with everything you will need minus a few household tools.

The tools you will need once you purchase the Shabby Tree Kit are Scissors, a Hot Glue Gun,
Hot Glue,  and a pair of Small Pliers. (pliers are used to remove the prongs on the back of Rhinestone fasteners.)

Lets start with the removal of the prongs using pliers, some of your rhinestone fasteners may already be missing the prongs. If so, less work for you. If not, you want to remove the prongs from all 6 fasteners like in the pictures below.

Next, we place the candlestick holder on the base of the Styrofoam tree form. You will want to make a circle of low temprature glue the size of the top of the holder. Place the holder on the tree and hold until dry.

Next, we open our tea stained cheesecloth and wrap our tree with it. Cheesecloth is folded into 3 folds. The first one is a half fold, once opened there are two more folds. You will need to unfold the cheesecloth all the way. Next, you will place some low temperature glue on the top portion of your Styrofoam form, and start to wrap your cheesecloth around the form. At the end of the fabric you will place another bead of low temperature glue and tack the end of the fabric in place.

We now need the ribbon and pearls for the top of the Shabby Tree. Take your ribbon and cut it into  10" pieces, and do the same with your simulated pearls. Lay out four pieces of ribbon, take a fifth piece and tie it around center in one knot.  Now we will put two strings of pearls on the knot we just tied, and tie two more knots. You will want to make at least 2 and tack them by the knot at the top of the shabby tree.

Take the rhinestone fasteners that you pulled the prongs off of, and apply glue to the back edges. Find the center of your flower. Separate and place the rhinestone piece in the center and hold until glue is dry. Do this for all six flowers. Apply glue to the white circle on the back of the flower. Cover it well, and place flower at the base of the shabby tree form. It will take four flowers for the base, and two for the top. Your beautiful, Vintage inspired SHABBY TREE is done!
These are awesome decor at Christmas time, and the lack of color allows for use throughout the year.
